A warm welcome to Celadon & Foxyfox, I can't recall seeing entries from either of you in the past, hopefully this won't be a "one off".

A great mix of clues so far from all, keep them coming. I'm sure I'll struggle to make a decision when the time comes.

An explanation would be appreciated for
Heathcliffe @9, I think I have it but would like confirmation.

If I may Heathcliff

Leaders of European country head the entire country's international trade (6)

(Swi) tzerland = leaders of European country
+ t heading for (t)he
entire country = CH (International letters for Switzerland ???

International trade = Def - (Switch trading is a name for International commerce)

Not sure if all that is correct but it works in my brain for today.

You certainly may, Les, especially as you make my effort sound more clever than it actually is!

Leaders of European country = SWIT(zerland)
head = precede
the entire country's international = CH (international abbreviation for Switzerland)
trade = definition of SWITCH.

Hope that helps, busby; I am sure it is more or less what you had worked out.

Thanks to all who entered this week, a great assortment of clues.
A good variety of definitions were offered, some I hadn't even considered myself.
Thanks for the geography lesson Bbm2, Jws and Gk, I now know more about the southwest UK.
Some cheeky entries from Mattrom, Rosalind and Aristo that were appreciated and some clever wording about witches from others.
A memory of schooldays from Mattrom, sporting terms and a musical interlude also were on offer.

First prize this week goes to our clairvoyant clue writer as they also managed to clue the prize I had bookmarked.
Back to Google again to find another.

Fieryjack @16 Peel's theme tune band drop mixer transfer (6)

Your new prize Fiery is a "candid camera" clip utilizing the "switch". Some good facial expressions on show.
