Rosecart -- look again. Ingrid said "lead to grudge = G" -- i.e. G is the 'lead' or first letter of grudge.
And 'slap' is common usage for make-up ('rouge etc').

OK Bullfrog, don't get the knickers in a knot. I accept the different idiom. And where I live 'slap' is unheard of as an alternative to make-up. that's all. I am grateful for all the help as I said before.

My knickers are perfectly unknotted, thank you rosecart. I was trying to help by clarifying a couple of points which you seem to be missing. I'll know better next time.

Re your mild spat with Bullfrog,I would refer you to the font of all knowledge"Chambers".
There you will find SLAP defined as - Stage make-up(theat.slang);hence,make up generally.

Can this be my final thank you to you all. I'm sure Chambers would be most useful but I'd rather talk to you guys. Now I'm off to slap my face and go to the dentist. cheers.
