No, I wasn't being serious Chris! Not heard of the Guardian Quiptic before though, was wondering if you'd mis-spelt Cryptic... Or is that a term of endearment (such as Grauniad or Gruadian?!)
Thanks for your parsing, though!

It's a weekly online only cryptic (published on Mondays) that's supposed to be easier than the daily, as an introduction for new solvers. However it's often a decent challenge, and frequently harder than the Monday Rufus.

Here's a link to the current list::

Ah thanks for that Chris, I'll give that one a try. I do like the Guardian but some of the setters (Bunthorne springs to mind) are a bit beyond me!
Back to work for me now!
Cheers!

Hope you see this reply albert;
Thanks for the link to the Bunthorne info. I've still got the Guardian book 2 cryptic puzzles at home, Araucaria and Bunthorne from about 2002 I think.
Here's a corker from the link, anyone who doesn't see it (I didn't!) can get the answer from the link,

"Amundsen's forwarding address" (4)

If it begins with an M, I love it.

Part of the reason why Amundsen was more successful than Scott.

btw, although Araucaria was obviously the greatest, Bunthorne was the most amusing (though usually more difficult).
