Getting a tad close to 'scribbled', which is most perceptive of you!

Bees
The reason I thought it was hard was because I did get stuck in the top right hand corner, because initially I had the penultimate letter of 8a as a "u" instead of an "a", but once sorted it was quickly resolved.
Glad to see John from Arran is back, and please dont criticise his English (?Scottish)

Faute de mieux I suppose, but I'm always getting things backwards.

Thanks Philip. Indeed, 'scrieve' is a Scots word meaning to 'write with copious fluency'. To my mind that is much more descriptive of Robtherich's post, than just 'wrote'. It derives from the Old French 'escrivain'. There are many words in Scots which we have as a result of the Auld Alliance that lasted over 250 years. I wonder where the European Union will be in another 200 years time?

I stand corrected John - scrieve has two meanings, the other being to glide swiftly along. But supra has 2 letters less, like wrote, so either would take less space and energy. Anyway, good to see you back.

All finished now and much better than #9. I think the user of 'maker' in 8 across is a bit tenuous. 'Designer' would have made a better clue. Do you suppose the RT compiler reads our musings here?
