25a is an anagram of "great", "I" (one), "and" (&) with the answer to 6 pointing you towards an anagram (also a pointer in 23a).

Thomas Bruce was the Earl of Elgin, noted for marbles, hence 24a and 14a

Don't see a tie up between 21a and 6d
