That would be "Little Rock" Chrise. I think.
I for one look for smooth surface read and more importantly a tad of humour.
The totally cryptic clues where one has to know all sorts of acronyms and have an in depth knowledge of Latin, or any other archaic language or place don't interest me at all.
A good cryptic clue in my opinion doesn't need an in depth knowledge of any subject, rather the answer is there and anyone can find it.

Possibly because I have an in depth knowledge of absolutely nothing.
But love cryptic crosswords.
Cheers.

Hi busby
On the whole I would agree. I would add "no wasted words" too.

How's the weather with you? I'm watching the rugby from Brisbane at the moment - apparently they've had 300mm rain in the last 12 hours, so it's a wonder that there are playing!

Hey Chrise.
Queenslanders have had two cyclones hit them over the last two or three days, things are pretty wet up there., damm windy too.
One from the west and one from the east.
Hasn't had any effect where I live. Hoping we will get the tail end with a bit of rain.
Cheers.

ps: how are you?

I'm very well, thanks, busby. There are some signs of spring, though some poor weather forecast in the next few days.

Some of my trees are sprouting new buds and others are changing the colour of their leaves, thinking winter is approaching. Poor confused things, (bit like me).
Take care Chris.
See you again one day, writing clues :-)
