This is a competition to compose the best cryptic clue, judged by your fellow contestants.
You may enter as many clues as you wish and everybody is welcome to have a go.
Feel free to explain your clue if you think it will help, or to ask another setter to parse his or hers.
Everybody who enters may vote for his or her favourite clue. You may not vote if you do not enter. Please include the post number. Also, please refrain from commenting on entries until voting has begun.
Please post your clues by UTC/GMT 12:00 Friday, September 12, when voting opens. The voting deadline is 22:00, and the result will be announced as soon as possible after that.

The entry with the most votes wins and its composer hosts the next week's competition. The host has a deciding vote in the event of a tie and may change the rules and/or times if necessary.
It is customary for the host to award an online prize when declaring the winner.
