I didn't look at any of the posts on this one as I was trying to do it all unaided - but I have found it very tricky.
I got the theme and have three-quarters of the grid filled, including 10 of the 12 numbers. Can anyone give me a clue/tip/something that will help me locate 4 and 5?

Thanks very much for the placements, Nelson. I've slotted those in and am now just tidying up.

I'm sorry guys I've been doing the hardest if these things for over 50 years but I'm reading the thread s on clashes at 18a & 18d also 23a & 23d and it makes no sense at all ! There is no indication at all as to how many letters make up the answer and how many clash. Now for first time ever in bin - good riddance !

Mrcroft, I hope you didn't really put the puzzle in the bin! It was hard this week, but I feel it was worth the effort.

I've no longer got my copy, but if you post the clues, I'm sure we (the IQ solvers) will be only too happy to help. The clashes become more obvious once you've got a couple. One example is - ...there's an answer that ends 'Al' clashing with an answer that begins 'Drin' - just put the two together.
