Rosalind, One making repairs is 'mender' - with 'a' needle (needle as a verb) - to prick or pierce 'me[a]nder' / and thread - to thread through (maybe the landscape) would be to Meander.
Maybe a touch of poetic license because the surface read would have sounded slightly off-key if I'd have said 'needled' - I think it works OK but I'm always open to constructive criticism if you feel it's too weak.
