Sure about the 'T'. Not sure about the other letters.

For #2, an alternative definition I found for 'thole' is:

a pin, typically one of a pair, fitted to the gunwale of a rowboat to act as the fulcrum for an oar.

Got another letter for #2. Let me rewrite it:

After half - TER + DATE

Stood a round - treated? After half = ter + date badly= tre ated?
Don't like it much, especially half of after, but it seems to hang together......
