Jim, Yes, that's it! Great. Thank you. In sync never felt right.

Yes, thank you, terry - as you say, to hector is to harangue.

Now I have to work out the down answer that ends in the L of EN BLOC.

Half-heartedly condemn man thrown to lions in terrible den (9)

- - M - A - I - L

(The first letter might be D but I am not at all sure of that).

The other letters are correct.

Hi Jim, It must have been a different Sammy, as I don't know anything about that song or the singer Do. Is there another Sammy who is a member here?

You're the only (and the greatest) Sammy here!

Hi again.

A nasty place called Domdaniel = 'doom' without half its heart (i.e. 'dom') + 'Daniel' (who was thrown to the lions).

Ha! The greatest of one! I like it. But what was all that about the song, then?

The answer to that last clue above must have DANIEL somewhere in it, I'm thinking.

Sammy ... For the reference to Do and a song ... go back to post #6 and click on the word Do (if you can really be bothered; I won't be testing you later).

Thank you both, once again. Half the heart of DOOM > one O > DOM. Plus DANIEL. Neat!

Jim, I did click on it earlier and missed the relevant bit! Saw something about tennis and thought you must be mixing me up with someone else, heh. I see the DJ Sammy now - at last, sez you.
