The poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson "mariana" has the line "upon the lonely moated grange"

Moted = full of fine dust ( far from having beams). ?

Sounds like 'moated' (eg Tennyson's poem, 'Upon the lonely moated grange...') + eg. ref. to parable about not attempting to pluck the mote out of one's neighbour's eye when having a beam in one's own?
