I think 27d is

TOGO (Country) "TO GO" = remaining.

28d may well be

HOLD (HOL[iday])+D (("BOOZE" = a hold or prison)

Any thoughts on 29a, 23d, 19d or 25a, please ????

That's a pity; SIND is incorrect and does not conform (much) to the clue's logic.
SIN=wrong; OK - D=day; OK, but "washing down with booze"? The criteria for proof in this last component are not satisfied, therefore the posited light is unsound. Sorry.

In Chambers 2006 - SIND - "to wash down with liquor"

Hi Martin,
I have the 11th edition of Chambers, and SIND or
SYND (N.Eng or Scot) to rinse;to wash out or down
also Burns SYNE a washing down with liquor.
A very clever clue I think as SIND is in S.E
Pakistan.
All the best to you,
Jerry
