Is it because renga is in Chambers but Regan is not?

Could be - I never thought of that. But I still don't think it adds anything. I'm also unsure why the clue starts with "truly".

Thanks for the inspirational Lear connection, Peterm. But I still don't entirely get it!

Why 'truly'?

In answer to my last post, I suppose 'truly' could be 'so called' (Chambers)...
I hate not feeling 100% satisfied with an explanation!

The "truly" might be contrasting Regan with Lear's other daughter, Cordelia. I'm too ignorant of the play to know.

I have just posted on 'The Answer Bank', to see if any magicians there can solve it! It is either very obvious, and we will kick ourselves, or the setter has got something wrong!

Truly thankless child equals Regan (yes poss Azed has misremembered the sisters as it should be Goneril). Move n to centre making renga. Renga is a word in Chambers - as is required by the preamble. Renga does not need to be defined in the clue. As the angaram 'range' is defined?

You are right - only has to be an anagram of the Chambers' word. Thank you so much. I will now give up my mental wrangling!

Hi!

I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me if this is a yawningly old hat query. I've just rediscovered the Azed crossword on the Guardian website and printed and completed No. 2151. My problem is that, unlike other crosswords on the site, Azed does not show the publication date of the crossword I've printed and the submission instructions rather nebulously tell me to submissions should be "postmarked Saturday". But which Saturday?? I just want to be sure that Azed 2151 is the latest, published on 25-Aug-2013, before I invest the cost of a 2nd class stamp in an entry which may already be out of date? Please advise!
