I'm a bit puzzled by 28ac. Looks like there can be only one answer, but the word doesn't appear in Chambers and is not mentioned in either the preamble or the footnote. Any thoughts from any of the AZED aficionados?

Are you sure you mean 28 across, Peter? I found that one quite straightforward, whereas 21 across is puzzling - though I have an answer for it.

Beg pardon - you're right. It's not in Chambers. I just assumed it was a word without checking. Thinking cap back on. I assume we have the same 'non'-word.

Google gives it a meaning, but that's not really the point, is it?

I've just started this - and noticed that the preamble refers to the 'grid entry at 18 Down'. There is no 18 Down - is it simply 18 Across?

Thanks. cmk. I'm OK with 21ac. I assumed the reference in the preamble to 18dn should read 16dn, which is a proper name.

Peter, thanks for that.

Popped out to the village fair for a couple of hours - very jolly affair - but back now and, I think, finished. However, I can't make sense of 5 across. I have an answer I'm reasonably happy with (referring to the morning after the night before, perhaps) but I can't see the connection with Guy's place. Any hints welcome.

An anagram of the answer gives you "Guy of ...", a character associated with Robin Hood.

Peter, you're a star. I'd got caught up on Guy Fawkes rather than the Robin Hood link - still it's all history now, eh.
