As usual, I need the parsing on one of my answers.

12 across: calculus class initially seems to go well.
I have KIDNEY STONE (renal) calculus. I can see the stone part, but not the rest.

Per pro "HOC"
I do think its rather sloppy to lift HOC out of a particular context.
After the event should produce Post Hoc.
HOC in isolation can only strictly mean THIS
(Takes off mortarboard - avoids flying chalk)
