Not sure when Mr Taylor wrote or performed the song but I first heard the term 'Jobsworth' as a young lad in the 70's & 80's on an English show called 'That's Life' hosted by Esther Rantzen and they used to give a prize (each week or month I think) to the latest Jobsworth with a prize of a golden cap. Viewers were invited to send in their stories of personal incidents regarding 'run ins' with officious people.

Does anyone else remember this? I'm sure I didn't dream it

That's right rossim it was Cyril Fletcher i had forgotten that name -- well done -- bet there is loads on u tube I'm off for a look and will post if i find anything

Yes Les as soon as i saw the clue word,it reminded me of that song, i am guessing Mrw had the same idea.
