Yes, Sarumite, I agree with the 'bowed', which is why my first reaction (and maybe it is right) was string quartet. Another possibility is archery, which would explain the past, but I can't think of anything other than 'tournament'(or Robin Hood) for that. It has to be an ART not a TRA, I think, from the total numbers.

96. Any one of three constiuents of Anthea. (7)

Break the word down to "An" "The" and "A" to give you three of these.
