Good Afternoon, All.

Not unsurprisingly, I had to cheat to get 15 across. I once achieved 28% in my art exam at school, making me foot (or is it fool?) of the class. Also, I struggled a bit with the children's programme, not having anyone around me of that age. Otherwise, the crossword was quite manageable.

Not too bad a day on the west coast. Hope you are having similar or better.

Best wishes.

Good afternoon Pipesmoker
Well, I've almost finished, after 2 hours, and I've never seen such a mess, what with tippex and alterations. Still haven't solved 4d.
13d I originally had houseboat, which threw everything else into chaos. Then, finally, I realised the definition was not a river dwelling at all ! Is it the sun or has my brain gone awol ?

Hi Chris
I was busy typing , only to see your post afterwards. Does 4d include an old word for "yours" ?

Yes jazzy
I didn't associate the word with a cartilage, but I've looked it up and it's correct.

Thanks Chris. All finished now. I'm off to have a late lunch in the sun, and see what sort of mess I make of Jolan's 5! :)

Hi Jazzgirl. I thought 13 down might be “homestead”, which is a dwelling. Then realized that the correct answer has the name of a river as the first two letters!

No problems today - but I too could not associate 4d with `cartllage`. Thanks, Chris for putting me right!

The definition for 11 ISN'T a French city (though the def. is a little loose)
Difficult to give a hint for 15. "Nearly rise" refers to 2 short words with the last letter missing.
