I've given a hint to the first 3 letters in post 10, magworth. The last 4 letters are more obvious, I think.

Hi everyone. Had a real struggle today, but just finished after 3 hours at it. Didn't help to have 8d marked out as 3-2-3-6 for some reason! Not used to working at it in the sun.

Straightforward? You call this straightforward? I'm still only half-way through it! Can anyone give me a clue to 18a please? Children's series to be built in pieces in the river.

18a is a children's TV series . Anagram of "built" inside a river beginning with T

PS the river is in North East England.
