I suppose that the circuit could be OR as in a gate returned after P in NY meaning that developer would have to be the definition and of course the N is extra as you say!

Thanks - I'd thought of 'pyro' (because it has a 'p', the 'start of project') and also 'gyro' (because it might connect with the theme), but I hadn't seen 'hypo'.
I think I am missing one of the 'six associated with the author'. I'll read through all my answers.

Sorry, nick - my last post was thanking nelson for 'hypo'. I am going with 'pyro' - if I'd read the dictionary entry properly, I would have seen it earlier. Your post made me check again. For once my first instinct was correct!

Hypo is the name given to the fixer by photographers.

Thanks, rossim - but I think I need the RO (OR/circuit returned). I can't see where the 'h' in 'hypo' would come from.

I was wrong with HYPO.
I can see now that the correct answer is PYRO.

Nelson, have just noticed your last post. 'Pyro' was all I needed to finish off, but thanks for the offer.
