I think this would make arrant a possibility again for 'Shameful'.

Thanks! Elate works cos arrant fits into it and the E in elate comes from RECEDE which is the new answer to 5A: Go back (6) which I thought was Relate - wrongly giving the A in place of E for 7D Make happy. Mystery solved.
