Ach! I'd misunderstood that part of the SIs. I had the same problem with 25A. All is now clear. Many thanks.

Loose ends everywhere, but I (think) I only have 12A and 26A to do. Any hints please?

12a defn - country clothes - 4 letter word for pretty + letter plural for low grade
26a anagram of g(good) with for - defn belt attachment

thought i'd finished. rechecking anagrams, cross references. ok except 6a. got NICE, but doesn't seem to fit ??????

You're correct with 6A dizoz, it's one of the anagram/defn ones

as soon as I posted this message , the answer came to come. Doh! Can't see the wood for the trees. Seem to be able to get the hard ones but the easy ones. Finished now, thank God. Not that hard after all, once one gets into it!
