OK, I've cross referenced and added up the categories and I think I've got it sorted out apart from not being able to find the definition for 1dn. Where is it hiding?

@teenieleek

Look at 20d and think "strings."

Ah! Knew it had to be there but just couldn't see it, possibly because I don't do enough to ever pull one. Thanks.

Re: 24A.

If I take the words "time to the Guardian .... 50", I can build a word whose definition is a number.

Even if the word "Isolate" is not involved, then I have a definition ("number") and the subsidiary in the same clue. But this cannot be, because there is no anagram in 24A.

Stumped.

Yes James, you've got the correct answer. 24ac falls into the category of clues with a superflous definition.

Ach! I'd misunderstood that part of the SIs. I had the same problem with 25A. All is now clear. Many thanks.

Loose ends everywhere, but I (think) I only have 12A and 26A to do. Any hints please?
