Stuck for understanding:If 1a is adaptation and 14a is recheck what on earth is 3d: Stumble on rising and fall heavily (4 letters. Also is 41a telltale- if so why?Revealing story of ancient Middle Eastern mound. 31a Dull event drawn out and unsubstantial never succeeded-is it lowlight? Surprised to find the jumbo on Boxing Day-nice surprise!

This is a perfect example of how not to post questions.

Give full clues, number of letters and any letters you have.

It even helps if you separate the clues, and not ask for everything in one dense unreadable paragraph.

Good morning, cedric. Your presentation is a bit of a muddle - may I suggest you look at POSTING TIPS, using question marks for missing letters and using a new line for each clue. It's then much easier for solvers to help.

I think 'tell' can mean a Middle Eastern mound.
