Livs - you've unwittingly, I imagine, given one of the solutions in your second post. I haven't solved many clues so far, so thank you.....

Good fun as you might expect from Paul...the only misprint as far as I can see is an extra (4) at 29D

Or is the misprint at 29A, which says it has 8 letters? As 12A merely says "See 29 (4)," this could relate to a misprinted 29A or 29D.

Pendragon (and others) - this was what I thought from the version I printed off at about 11am - but it's now been corrected to show that 29ac goes with 12, and 29d stands alone at 4 letters.

Great theme - just the little words to get now.

Thanks, cmk. I hadn't refreshed. It doesn't help knowing that some of the words (which?) are not in any dictionary and don't even make sense. And the little ones are the worst. I have eight 4/5-letter answers and one 7-letter word to do.

Martin, I'd read all the clues so maybe something was working away in the back of my brain! I didn't realise till I had a second look at the crossword - but I still can't find the shilling in that one (or is it the ug?)

I have 14A and a fair number of answers but I can't parse a couple at all, even with the answer! And I don't see why someone says answers aren't in the dictionary: are there different sorts of 14A, because the only one I've got & can parse is 24A - is that really one or is it just a strange clue?

Sorry, I mean 24D and it was pendragon (can't look back when replying).

I have at least seven words entered into the grid that aren't in the dictionary or encyclopaedia. But can anybody give a hint about 29/12 and 13D (which relates to 12A)? And yes, I know it's early days!

In 29/12ac, the "fix" is a 3 letter word, as in "to fix an election". It's reversed ("switches"). You can probably guess what the "three right angles" are. It's one of those that undergoes a s + 14ac, but the 2 words to go in the grid are real words.

Thanks, peterm. I thought I'd thank you now, rather than when I've worked it out.
