fraudulent = SHAM (by defn. , not anagrind !)
ritual cut short = BLES(sing)

major scandal is the defn. here (the bbc etc)

A difficult choice, I must say. My shortlist of favourites was, in the order they were posted: 5 (Rosalind), 7 (Bullfrog), 8 (Paul), 27 (BBM2 - a real doh! moment there) and 71 (Jamoza).

After much deliberation I plumped for Jamoza's late-ish entry, mainly because of its excellent smooth and amusing surface reading.
