Yes, I was surprised,too. Maybe because it was relatively easy despite recondite theme? The "tufty" thing still surprises me (or was the explanation a joke?)!

GK, my explanation (such as it was) wasn't a joke - the exact definition (of the theme word) says 'tufted', so 'tufty' isn't too far removed.
