@chrise,

To raise you on your point of whether Tatum O'Neal should be (5,1,4) the answer is no.

I think back in the day numerations for clues did used to include apostrophes ie:- "Would've" would've been expressed as (5'2), but the consensus was that this made some clues a little too easy.

Back then they wouldn't have had webforums to help them cheat either. Life was hard in them days.

I have 2 answers I can't quite parse:

25D I have a beast that sounds like connections, but where's the audience?
25 Beast making connections with audience (4)

24A I have fighting that isn't (as in Russia and the West in the 1950s)... but what about the rest of the clue?
24 Fighting that isn't for poltroon keeping end on line (4,3)

Also,

8 Listener's object includes threats that could be very destructive (5-10)

I have the answer and I thought it was an anagram of what a listener's objective is + 'threats', but it needs an extra 't'. Where does the 't' come from?

'With audience' as in 'when you hear it', it's just an indication of 'sounds like'. I think the other one is another word for poltroon with its last letter 'kept' in the middle, plus a single letter for 'line'
