Should have said it was 'discus'/events, with the 'i' removed, and I think 'ama' is something to do with love.

I've seen the answer as D ama scus It's discus minus the I adding AMA (lover) but I would never have worked it out for myself.

the clue only really works with the word "a" in it.
"a lover of pop"
