I struggled with 27d (5) basement of a tenement!...the answer apparently is DUNNY. I have always thought that a Dunny was an Australian word for an outside, wooden toilet i.e. 'Cludgy' but as I've said many times before....the Daily Record £500 crossword clues are often crap!!

Hello there drumbeat how are you doing . I must admit loss leader was a new one on me and dunny i only knew because i heard my grandma use it for her basement otherwise i would have been thinking australian outhouse as well.We really should not be surprised by the answers, it is the daily record we should be used to the weird answers by now .
