Match your six:

With a bit of grass, chap does from behind, without energy, adjusting on-screen display for torso detail inset, showing expression of annoyance (3)

(inspired by desperados in the end)

Wow,a sextuple!
This "short story" apparently contains the 4 main themes found in stories - religion, the aristocracy, sex nd detection

"My God" said the Duchess, "I'm pregnant. Who dunit?"
Shorter than the clue, but not so interesting

Hi Les;

3d was tagging along with some 44a, the 53a in 54a, without 42d, who nevertheless had to 18a a living; when by accident or 44a he came across some 33d. With no 30a to make a 4d and with no 36 for manoeuvre had to find a 21a quick! By some 40a with some helpful 37, and a clear 5d of a 2d in the distance, he discovered “it” was in fact a “them” – a collection of 28a he recognised to be 13d. 10d! 12d, he wandered whether this was a set-up, whether some 29a 45d (possibly in 47d) was testing his prowess as a 23a God, did he still have the power when 38? There was nothing in the 52a to guide him now, 41a (sounds like) trouble coming. So he escaped up a 25d and had some 10a. He was on 34d!

Great story. I was going to suggest that you work in a theme that surely belongs with the others- a stranger comes to town- but I suppose the fourth part of your tale can do double duty.

Sorry, Paul. Was responding to the fair Rosalind. Must read yours now.

Hm. Did you intend to use 44a twice in the first sentence? Perhaps you meant 35a the first time... :)

.. by accident or 39a. Of course! By the way, in case you were wondering, the 19a was 14.
