What a great set of clues everyone, thank you; it has been quite a challenge to judge.

Paul, it was "red meat" I didn't understand!

I hope I'm not treading on p@'s toes by welcoming timmo and truro (are you twins?) and neilm (I think) to Clueless.

A very close second is dja for post 10 , honourable mentions for rambler post 9 and aristo post 12, the only person to use the word "metamorphosis" (which I thought might become a splendid anagrind!)

But the winner is jws with his post 21
"Provide food on the pier. Lovely grub."

here are your 2 prizes. The first is very funny (well, I think so) but does contain some swearing

so I've added another, the nearest thing to poetry in motion I have ever seen.

You have to wait a bit for the start which isn't promising, but patience is rewarded.

Mrs Headmistress, I am here belatedly to explain myself re:
He will get money out of you, the worm! for CATERPILLAR.

Another meaning of CATERPILLAR is 'extortioner'
ref: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/caterpillar

So it's a double defintion clue. I'm not a fan of explaining clues upfront on here personally, but would have sent you my explanation earlier had I seen it.
