Just to comfort eccles45: I don't think I've led a sheltered life at all, come from the same part of the world as Mrs T, was even there often in the '80's & '90's , and had still never heard of them --- let alone taken part in them. On the Continent of course they might exist under a different name, but at least there would be no (well, little) trans-sexual role-playing, as I have heard this involved on the Island.How boring, you will say? All a matter of taste, as the Art Mistress said to the Gardener.....

Oh gk, I love your stream-of-consciousness posts. I don't think anything other than dressing up was compulsory at these parties -any extra-curricular activity is down to your imagination!

I've got to this very late today; not happy about the spelling of the Greek island in "Great Greek, Greek island recoiling at tax" (8) - isn't it almost universally spelled with a K rather than a C?

@ chrisE: both spellings are in Bradford's & Collins Million Word C'word Dict.
