& down is a very unusual way of putting it. usually they have a number. i just can't keep up with modern advances. is it an anagram.

Rajesh, the form is to give the clue, the number of letters in the answer, and any letters you have. Makes things a lot easier.

No, 8 dn is not an anagram. It is what is called a cryptic definition-type clue.
