Jar (verb) as in "jar the nerves"

Caravaggio. Thank you so much for your reply. When I first joined this Forum some years ago I was partly prompted by being intrigued by your choice of name! I have always liked your contributions and will certainly miss them, but I am glad to hear you are fit and well. Has Nimrod joined the Sat. Telegraph contributors too? I used to buy the Saturday Telegraph, perhaps I should resort to that as well.

Thanks for the hints in fill in my 2 blank spaces. I did actually manage to get them
