Buffalo isn't in the Wild West; it's in western NY, near Niagara Falls. Busby Berkeley's musicals are really over the top; I thinks it's this one ("42nd Street") that has a chorus girl tap-dancing through a skyscraper window- to her death. As phillip says, shuffling off to Buffalo is also a tap-dance step.
