You mean the "E"? I actually tried to write it in missing it, and found it didn't fit. It comes from the Guardian "we", of course.

I think it's AFRESH, meaning "once more", with QU/A dropped from AQUAFRESH. Is this a fair clue? - I use Colgate!

Thanks, djawhufc. It makes sense, though I'm not impressed by using "razor" to mean "shave". Can "razor" be a verb?

btw glad s'one does "G." every day: I'm giving up several other papers (esp. Murdoch's ...) to finance a subscription to the good old G. every day, tho' it's very expensive whichever way you do it here in France, so we may well be swopping notes here more often in the future.Actually I intend to read it as well (the serious side of life rears its ugly head)................
