Please could AndyC explain the koi carp clue. I just can't see it.

What's in the bowl.Fish bowl.
Strong punch = a knock out KO with I cover.
KOI.

Cover = CAP nicking R from recipe.

Hope this explains my thinking.

Thanks andyc and bernie. Makes sense but I don't think it was a very good clue. I don't like all these single letters unless they are accepted abbreviations. But what do I know?!
