14a 4 letter synonym for tricks backwards + G(german) defn is a local dialect word for lag/straggler
22a 4 letter synonym for match + 4 letter synonym for point (not N S E or W think of a different point) defn is what a fit person has
8d it's split 3,2,3 - try your letters in chambers word wizard or universal xword solver - there won't be many choices. Defn is "get worn out"

Many thanks sudokulover - the hints were very helpful.
If your still there my last three clued lights are:
6d What gymnast has but athlete hasn't? Yes and no (7) ?I?G?E? (SINGLET?)
9d Some consideraable playwright's long part (4) ???E
24a Skinny creature slimmed (4) ????

I have 1A/40, so when I can work out the above, it should all fit into place!
