13ac. Anag of "sung" = birds. Flanders and Swann had a song "I'm a ...."

I'm all done, however with a suspect Reefer for 4 down. I can see the "joint" part of the clue but I can't tie in "Snotty". Any one able to clear this one up for me?

"Snotty" is a synonym for "midshipman". So is "reefer".
