6d Judge chosen loses head to cause harmful outcomes (7)
14d Spring, in cold environs - cut first of lentils (4)

The thing about this particular listener is that you can't be sure to put an answer into any cell until you have both the across and down clues, because one letter has to be discarded in ten cells. So sorry I can't give any letters, but I don't know any!

6d Think of another kind of judge, shortened form. Then how a person might get chosen, take of first letter. If those are your last 5, then you do already have some letters to help (irrespective of changing).It's a aperfectly ordinary word but an unusual sense.

For one of my other answers I had 'slip', for 21d: Upset beer in careless error (4).I didn't understand the wordplay but it seemed the only choice. Is it right, and if so, how does the wordplay work?

yes slip is correct - backwards it is PILS - a kind of beer
