In spite of all the valuable help given for 43 am still struggling....an anagram of what please?

the answer is a nine letter word isn't it. how many nine letter words are there in the clue?

Chambers Word Wizard is good for anagrams (and will give you clue 43). It now includes some proper nouns which I don't think it did in the past (am I correct here?).

Thank you Badger4. Yes Philip I realised it was the 9 letter word but couldn't find the anagram either by myself or on the computer. Will keep trying .

It's an actor. The character he played was extremely well-dressed and wore a bowler. Old tv series.
