1. Capital ground mature beef (5) – Bully? (Capital! meaning “good” and “bully” also means this. Double meaning with “bully beef”
2. Man’s environment? (5,3)- Irish Sea? (Isle of Man)
3. Crawls to a pass on Snowden’s summit (7) Toadies? (To a die (pass on) +Snowdon’s summit (s)) meaning “crawls”.
4. A mean, deceitful, despicable person bans gigues in figure-skating production (7) Ratfink? ( “Gigues” removed from “figure skating”, anagram gives ratfink)
5. Appropriate directive to top peer (10)- Commandeer? (Command +top of peer= eer, gives word meaning “to appropriate”)

Thank you Tony, Andyc, Ari, AB, Aqer, HelenB, and Jazz Girl. Tony's got 'em all. Good shot Andy (all but one). Hope they were enjoyable.

I post my pre-prepared solution, ONLY for completion. They've already been explained.

1. (charade) G (capital Ground) + RIPE (mature) = GRIPE = beef (colloq)

2. (cryptic) IRISH SEA

3. (charade) TO + A + DIE (pass on) + S(Snowden’s ‘top’) = TOADIES = crawls

4. (complex anag = production) of “figure-skating” – “gigues” = RATFINK = a mean, deceitful, despicable person (exact Chambers def)

5. COMMAND = directive + EER = top (p)eer = COMMANDEER = appropriate

Oh No! I missed the 5.00 o'clock spot - I fell asleep. Only got Gripe and Ratfink.
Must try harder.

Forgot to say gongrats AB (all but No. 1).
Can't be easy, solving from scratch (no crossing letters). You're all quite brilliant. Din-din time now. Farewell.

Better and better, Jolan. Didn't get them all (bad timing today), and then...cheated!
