Yes, although I thought it was "a cat may look at a queen"!! And "in name" because Jack and Sophie were most popular, so "in names" last year, and "in name only" means "not really"
struggling with 14d. tripe, yes, being independent (8) -e-s-i-y, i think! also assuming 21ac is latent and 23d is ernie, leaves me 25d, off-straight (4) ---e, and 26ac, lacquer land... (5) --p-n
great shouts AB! did think of japan but couldn't marry the j to the down clue initially. now know agee can be spelt with j. thought 14dn was an anagram using either the tripe or the being, neither of which seemed to give me anything. would never have thought of extension of per se (latin for "in itself" roughly speaking and therefore "independent of"). great clue and great "get", well done! can anyone tell me why my previous reply box was so darn big?!
I,m losing the plot with the bottom left corner. I can't see past AJAR for 25Down and am sure that 28Across should be an anagram of corner i.e.but for the life of me can't see what it is. Any help gratefully received!!
