Now that's what happens when you don't read directions. I think increase has more than four letters. Let's see... I think I'll return to the first page now.

A Fork can be referred to as an eating iron.
Hope this helps you.

For some reason cutlery has always been referred to as "eating irons" in my family. Maybe a regional thing?

Well done Thea and Philip, thought 1003 was particularly crafty.

THEA: I hope your sermons aren't this convoluted. I'm picturing people in the pews looking like the audience at the end of "Springtime for Hitler".

THEAMBLER...What can I say? You are a mad genius!

And well done that Phillip!!! You must also have a devious and wrapped mind to figure out this quiz so fast!!!

Personally I only got 3 lamb, edam and fork. And would still be struggling with the prime number thingy.

Cheers to both of you...

Thea, thanks for another of your mad and bad (in the modern sense,i.e. meaning good) puzzles. the stacking /shuffling bit was particularly good. and thanks to those who explained fork/iron.

I just don't understand why more people don't have a go. some go on about how complicated the instructions are or how difficult the clues are. but that isn't really true is it. your instructions are always perfectly clear and (nearly all) your clues are straight-forward. if you can do cryptic crosswords reasonably well you can do yours in my view. so why don't more people have a go?
