I've just noticed that 'eassel' would have 'less' (minor) so I think I'll settle for that.

The other one is EASSEL. LESS spelt backwards (minor) to a E(ast). It's a dialect word for Eastwards.

I have eassel, which includes the E direction - there is no I indicated in the clue.
