I eventually twigged on that one, but I found it in the crossword dictionary. I wasn't familiar with the term. It is an abbreviation for the main man I believe.

It just won't seem to stop blowing here, some of the gusts quite frightening. You are right about the Island, it's featured many times recently.

We seem to have missed it all again. Worried about Isle, can't contact them. They always struggle with West S/W winds, straight in harbour off sea. Regularly flood, 30+ft tides are usual

Poor souls. At least we are well inland here, the coast is always under threat at this time of year.
