That is exactly how the clue is written. I did wonder myself if there was an error in the clue. It is the very last blank left in this week's Stamford Mercury crossword & it is frustrating to be stuck on one! This isn't a prize crossword so it doesn't really matter but I thought I would ask in case someone had any bright ideas.
The first thing I thought when I saw this clue is that Alsatian food has a reputation for being artery-clogging. Is the I definitely right? I was wondering if arteri meant something else and this was a play on words. Artery is artere in French, isn't it?
