That's what I've been asking myself all day!Have been all through the possibilities with the given letters for 42d on this site & have found nothing related to "tack",but I'm sure you're right,as at least it's inthe grid!What does your "defo" mean,by the way? I've obviously been out of the country too long................

I can only think of HEADED =on course for--a vague connection with one's tack;and SEALER,since tack can also mean (I'm using Chambers) "a fastening strip". What do you think?
